Werrimul was declared a Parish in 1932 with Fr Leyden Parish Priest. Kathleen Rogers of Merbein was baptized at the opening Mass.
The Parish was relatively short-lived and ceased to exist in 1949 when it was transferred back to Mildura.
1965 Millewa became part of the new Merbein Parish.
Distance was no deterrent to the enthusiastic school footballers in 1929 as reported in the newspaper.
Happy Time at Werrimul
Sunraysia Daily, Wednesday 7 th August 1929, page 6
Last Wednesday afternoon the 31 July, the Convent school footballers, under the care of Rev. Father Ryan, left for Werrimul to play a match with the Werrimul and district schools. Mr Ruler drove the footballers and other cars were kindly loaned by Messrs O’Malley, Broadfoot and O’Reilly (2).
On arrival the visitors were treated royally at Westcombe’s restaurant, where they sat down to a most enjoyable dinner. During the afternoon a delicious tea was served and the footballers much appreciated the cases of oranges which were divided among them.
Much credit and praise is due to Mesdames Walsh, Kelly, Gatti and Ryan, who with their willing assistants organised the arrangements, which were much commented on by the visitors. An interesting game was played on the Werrimul recreation reserve, when the Convent school team was the victors. After expressions of thanks and loud cheering for the hospitality shown by the Werrimul residents, the party wended their way back to Mildura
